The Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club is proud to announce the forthcoming launch of our community Soup Kitchen, a cornerstone initiative designed to alleviate food budget pressures for our valued members. This innovative facility will serve as a central component of our comprehensive community support system, offering substantial discounts on nutritious, freshly-prepared meals to all club members.

Strategic Nutritional Support for Members

Our Soup Kitchen will feature a diverse menu with significantly reduced pricing exclusively for club members, including specially priced student lunch options to ensure young members have access to affordable, quality nutrition during school days. This initiative directly addresses the growing concern of food insecurity in our community while supporting overall health and wellness for all members.

Sustainable Operational Model

To maximize affordability and sustainability, the Soup Kitchen will operate through an innovative community-driven model:

Volunteer-Based Staffing: Local volunteers will form the core operational team, minimizing labor costs while fostering community engagement

Agricultural Partnerships: Club members will participate in vegetable cultivation and livestock rearing programs, creating a sustainable supply chain that further reduces ingredient costs

Local Sourcing: Priority will be given to locally sourced produce and ingredients, supporting regional agriculture while maintaining freshness and quality

Implementation Timeline

The Soup Kitchen will commence operations with a Grand Opening on February 1, 2026, initially operating from a temporary facility to ensure immediate community benefit. Upon completion of our permanent club headquarters in June 2026, the Soup Kitchen will transition to its dedicated, fully-equipped space within the main complex.

Executive Perspective

“Our primary objective with the Soup Kitchen initiative is to deliver tangible economic relief to our members through significantly reduced food expenses,” stated Lerma Moore, General Manager of the Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club. “Club membership now extends beyond athletic development to encompass practical household budget support. We are committed to ensuring that no member faces food insecurity, particularly our youth members during their critical developmental years.”

“While we anticipate generating modest operational revenue, our fundamental mission remains centered on community welfare rather than profit maximization,” Moore continued. “This program exemplifies our holistic approach to community development, addressing both recreational and essential needs simultaneously.”

Menu Structure

The Soup Kitchen will offer a nutritionally balanced menu featuring traditional Filipino dishes at substantially reduced member pricing:

• Soup Selections (4 varieties)
• Vegetable Dishes (4 options)
• Pancit Noodle Preparations (3 styles)
• Fried Rice Entrees (2 variations)
• Lumpia (2 types)
• Steamed Rice
• Traditional Rice Cake

This comprehensive menu ensures diverse options to accommodate varying preferences and nutritional requirements while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.

Community Impact and Future Vision

The Bohol Coconuts Soup Kitchen represents a strategic response to identified community needs, extending the club’s value proposition beyond sports programming to encompass essential life services. By significantly reducing food expenses for member families, we aim to enhance overall quality of life while strengthening community bonds through shared meals and cooperative food production initiatives.

This program aligns with our broader organizational mission of comprehensive community development, demonstrating our commitment to addressing both recreational and fundamental needs of Bohol residents through innovative, sustainable solutions.
