Cambanac Joins in Local Marian Tradition

A group of 50-plus Cambanac residents delivered the Mary Immaculate statue to the Laya Chapel on Sunday in a convoy of motorcycles and multicabs. This local tradition involves a revered statue of the Immaculate Conception traveling to every chapel in the Municipality of Baclayon, staying for one night, as part of community prayer and devotion.

These visits serve to extend the spiritual presence of the parish’s principal patroness, the Immaculate Conception, to the wider community, especially those who may not be able to visit the main church regularly.

The practice reflects the deep-rooted Marian devotion in the Philippines and strengthens the communal bonds of faith among residents, who consider it a great honor to host the image. It is way of “bringing Mary home” to the people.

The main Baclayon Church, officially the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church, houses a revered image of the Immaculate Conception, and the tradition of the traveling statue is an extension of that devotion.
