Discover The Coconuts Way: Building Champions, One Play at a Time

At Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club, we believe greatness isn’t accidental—it’s built. Built through disciplined training, a winning mindset, and a culture that pushes every player to exceed their own limits. This is The Coconuts Way: a unique approach to the game that blends skill, strategy, and spirit.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Marvin “Merv” Moore, whose international experience include developing national teams across three countries, our training philosophy is designed to do more than teach fundamentals. It’s designed to transform players.

The Four Pillars of The Coconuts Way

1. Aggressive Hitting
We don’t just swing—we attack the ball with confidence and purpose. Aggressive hitting means being mentally prepared, physically balanced, and strategically aware. Our players learn to own the batter’s box, turning every at-bat into an opportunity to change the game.

2. Smart Baserunning
Speed is nothing without savvy. We teach players to read the field, anticipate plays, and make intelligent decisions on the basepaths. It’s not just about stealing bases—it’s about controlling the tempo of the game.

3. Pitching Instead of Throwing
Anyone can throw a ball; a pitcher commands the game. We focus on mechanics, mindset, and mastery. From grip to release, every pitch is intentional. Our pitchers don’t just aim—they execute.

4. Hit Me the Ball
Defense wins championships. This mantra instills pride in making every play, whether it’s a routine grounder or a diving catch. We train fielders to want the ball in every situation, building dependable, fearless defenders.

“Practice shouldn’t just be challenging—it should be entertaining. When players are engaged, they’re learning,” says Coach Merv.

“We design sessions that are dynamic, competitive, and fun. Whether it’s a high-energy batting rotation, a situational baserunning game, or a pressure-packed fielding drill, we keep them thinking, moving, and improving.”

He adds, “Our goal is to create an environment where players are excited to work hard. When you blend discipline with enjoyment, that’s where real growth happens.”

More Than a Method—a Mindset

The Coconuts Way is more than a set of drills; it’s the foundation of a culture of excellence. It’s reflected in our club mantra:

“Don’t Be Good. Be Great.”

We’re not here to produce average players. We’re here to develop athletes who understand the game, respect the process, and strive for greatness in everything they do—on and off the field.

From our youth leagues to our adult programs, this philosophy connects every member of the Bohol Coconuts family. It’s how we build not just better baseball and softball players, but better teammates, students, and community members.
