“Win A Tropical Island Baseball Academy” Essay Contest – Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

1. Contest Overview & Sponsor
The “Win A Tropical Island Baseball Academy” Essay Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by Bohol Island Baseball Academy, LLC (“Sponsor”). The Contest constitutes a skill-based contest where participants will submit original essays judged against the criteria below. The winner will receive one (1) Charter Franchise License for a Bohol Island Baseball Academy (the “Prize”).

2. Eligibility
The Contest is open to natural persons who are at least 21 years of age at the time of entry and are legal residents of the United States, Philippines, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, or any country within Europe. Employees, officers, and directors of the Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and their immediate family members are not eligible.

Entrants must be former baseball players, coaches, scouts, or instructors with verifiable experience. The winner must demonstrate the financial capacity to maintain the minimum annual operations budget of US$3,000 for the Academy.

3. Contest Period
The Contest begins at 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST) on January 1, 2026, and ends at 11:59 PM PST on April 30, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). All entries must be received within the Contest Period.

4. How to Enter
To enter, eligible participants must:

  1. Visit the bohol-coconuts.com website during the Contest Period.
  2. Complete the official entry form with full name, country of residence, email address, and a brief summary of baseball background.
  3. Submit an original essay of no more than 200 words on the topic: “Why do you want to own an elite baseball academy?”
  4. Pay the non-refundable entry fee of US$20.00 via the secured payment portal, unless submitting under the Free Entry Method outlined in Section 5.

Entry Limit: Five (5) entries per person and per email address, regardless of entry method. Essays must be original, previously unpublished, and written solely by the entrant.

5. Free Entry Method (Alternative to Entry Fee)
As an alternative to the paid entry, an entrant may submit an essay via standard mail without payment. To do so, hand-print your full name, date of birth, address, email, phone number, and baseball background on a 3”x5” card. Include with your original essay, typed or neatly handwritten, on 8.5”x11” paper. Mail the materials in a sealed envelope with proper postage to:

Mail-in entries must be postmarked by April 16, 2026, and received by April 30, 2026, to be eligible. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, or misdirected mail.

6. Entry Fee Refund Condition
If the total number of qualified paid entries received by the end of the Contest Period is fewer than seventy-five (75), Sponsor will refund the US$20 entry fee to all paid entrants. Refunds will be processed to the original method of payment within sixty (60) days after the Contest Period ends. This condition does not apply to free mail-in entries.

7. Prize Description
One (1) Grand Prize: A Charter Bohol Island Baseball Academy Franchise License. The Prize includes:

  • A waiver of the standard US$1,500 franchise fee.
  • The grant of exclusive territorial operating rights for one (1) designated municipality on Bohol Island, Philippines, as determined by the Sponsor.
  • Access to the franchise operations manual, training system, and network support.

Estimated Retail Value: US$1,500.

PRIZE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Travel, relocation costs, housing, local business permits, or the required operational capital. The winner is solely responsible for all costs associated with relocating to and living in Bohol, and for funding the Academy’s annual operations budget (US$3,000 – $10,000). The winner must enter into the standard Bohol Island Baseball Academy Franchise Agreement, which will include terms on territory, operational standards, and the 5% agent fee structure for signed prospects. Failure to execute the Franchise Agreement within thirty (30) days of presentation will result in forfeiture of the Prize.

8. Winner Selection & Judging Criteria
On or about May 1, 2026, a panel of qualified judges selected by the Sponsor will judge all eligible entries based on the following criteria:

Strategic Vision & Feasibility (40%): Clarity and practicality of the proposed blueprint for talent identification and development.

Understanding of Cross-Cultural Coaching (30%): Sensitivity and insight into coaching and motivating athletes within the Filipino cultural context.

Passion & Leadership Potential (30%): Demonstrated ability to inspire a community and lead a sports-based enterprise.

The entrant with the highest aggregate score will be declared the potential winner. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-judged by an additional judge based on the same criteria. Decisions of the judges and Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.

9. Winner Notification & Verification
The potential winner will be notified via email and/or telephone on or about May 1, 2026. The potential winner will be required to:

  • Sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability & Publicity Release and the Franchise Agreement within thirty (30) days of notification.
  • Provide proof of identity, eligibility, and baseball background.
  • Provide a credible financial plan demonstrating access to the required operational budget.

Non-compliance with any requirement, the return of any notification as undeliverable, or a determination that the winner is ineligible will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the Prize. In that event, the Prize may be awarded to the runner-up at the Sponsor’s discretion.

10. General Conditions
By participating, entrants agree to these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process or violating the Official Rules. Sponsor is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, technical failures, or unauthorized human intervention.

11. Limitations of Liability & Release
By entering, entrants release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, and their respective officers from any liability arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance, use, or misuse of the Prize. The Prize is awarded “AS IS” with no warranty or guarantee, express or implied.

12. Privacy
Information submitted with an entry is subject to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, posted on the contest website. The winner’s name, likeness, and essay may be used for promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
