Detailed Franchise Information
What are the financial advantages of operating in the Philippines?
The cost of living and operating a business in Bohol is significantly lower than in the United States, Japan, or Europe. Essentials like housing, utilities, and labor can be 70-80% less expensive. This allows your investment to go much further, enabling higher-quality facilities, more training time, and community programs that would be cost-prohibitive elsewhere. Your club can become a central, affordable hub for families.

What does the training schedule look like?
Mirroring successful models in the U.S. and Japan, our clubs train after school and on weekends. Filipino school days typically end by 4 PM, leaving ample daylight for practice. This allows for consistent, year-round skill development—a critical advantage over seasonal leagues. With covered batting cages, training continues uninterrupted even during the rainy season.
Does the Franchise Owner actually own the baseball academy?
Yes. In compliance with Philippine law regarding foreign ownership, the business is structured as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) where a Filipino citizen holds a minimum 60% stake. As the Franchise Owner/Partner, you will own 40% of the academy. Your Filipino partner, Lerma Moore, acts as a silent partner and donate her share of proceeds back into the club’s bank accounts. You will have full control over daily operations, technical direction, and financial management, including sole management of the academy bank accounts.
What are the potential revenue streams for my academy?
Core Sports Revenue: Monthly membership dues and team sponsorship packages.
Merchandising: Local baseball academy apparel shop & online store (jerseys, caps, hoodies, equipment).

Business Partnerships: Corporate sponsorships, uniform advertising (sleeves, caps, outfield banners), and naming rights for fields or facilities.
Community Services: Operating a small snack bar/canteen, hosting annual community Disco fundraiser, and hosting baseball tournaments.
Player Advancement: Agent fees (5%) on player signing bonuses for professional contracts.
Franchise Appreciation: Sell your charter franchise after 12+ months of proven operation (minimum suggested resale: $15,000-$30,000).
Volunteer Program: Host international volunteers (baseball/softball players, coaches) for a fee, providing them housing and cultural immersion.
Digital Content: Monetize an academy YouTube channel or social media following with player highlights, training tips, and vlogs.

How much does it cost monthly to operate a baseball academy?
Operational costs are highly scalable. A lean model focusing solely on baseball development with a rented field and basic equipment can run as low as $100-$300 per month. A more comprehensive model with a clubhouse and community services may range from $500-$1,000 per month. With multiple revenue streams, the goal is to build a club that is not only sustainable but profitable.
How long does it take to launch a baseball academy?
With our on-ground support, your academy can be operational within 30 days of your arrival in Bohol. Startup costs for essential items (initial equipment, uniforms, field rental deposits, etc.) typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scale and facilities you choose from day one.
What league will my baseball academy compete in?
The founders of the Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club will launch the Bohol Youth Sports League next year, and will provide the founding club members with a percentage of the net sales profits annually, including future sales of academy franchises ($30K each).
What does ‘Application Pending Approval’ mean?
We are not simply selling logos; we are building a league of elite player development academies. We seek like-minded, passionate baseball people—individuals confident (some might say arrogant) in their ability to scout, teach, and build a powerhouse baseball academy full of talented prospects. The game is our shared language. If we find your vision and passion aren’t aligned with our long-term development goals, your reservation fee will be fully refunded.
How important is the Zoom interview with Coach Merv?
It is the most critical step. Coach Merv uses this conversation to assess your baseball IQ, your philosophy on player development, and your commitment to the long-term project. He is looking for co-pioneers, not just investors.
Why doesn’t Coach Merv sell franchises to anyone with $1,500?
Coach Merv’s experience building national programs in Europe and Asia showed him that weak competition stifles elite talent. His vision is a league where 70-80 percent of the academies are fiercely competitive. He wants rivals who will push his own players to new heights. The league’s quality depends on denying franchises to those who lack the competence or passion to develop elite teenage baseball prospects.
