Get ready to hear the crack of bats and the cheers of community! The Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club is thrilled to announce our official 2026 Youth Training Schedule, bringing structured, fun, and foundational baseball and softball development to the heart of Cambanac. Starting soon, our vacant lot near the chicken farm will transform into a hub of athletic energy, laughter, and learning, as we launch our after-school and weekend programs for aspiring young athletes aged 4 to 18.
Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Marvin “Merv” Moore, whose international experience spans from Switzerland to Bhutan, our program is designed to teach more than just sports—it’s about building character, discipline, and a lifelong love for the game.
“Our mission is simple,” says Coach Merv. “We’re here to teach every child, every girl and boy, the basic fundamentals of baseball and softball. I have high expectations for all our student-athletes, not just in sport, but in becoming focused, supportive, and resilient young people. Here, everyone gets a chance to swing for the fences.”
Your Weekly Line-Up: Practice Makes Perfect
We’ve crafted a schedule that fits into family life, with after-school sessions and weekend practices that maximize skill-building and fun.
Weekday After-School Sessions (Monday-Friday):
4:00 PM: Rookie League (Ages 4-5) & Single A League (Ages 6-7). Our littlest Coconuts will focus on glove familiarization, soft-toss, and running the bases in a playful, engaging environment.
5:00 PM: Double A League (Ages 8-9) & Triple A League (Ages 10-11). Building on fundamentals, these groups will work on position-specific drills, hitting technique, and game-situational awareness.
6:30 PM: Juniors (Ages 12-13) & Seniors (Ages 14-18). Our older athletes will utilize the outdoor batting cages and field for advanced skill work, strength conditioning, and strategic gameplay development.
Saturday Morning Skill Sessions:
8:30 AM: Rookie & Single A Leagues
10:00 AM: Double A & Triple A Leagues
1:00 PM: Juniors & Seniors
Saturdays are for deepening the week’s lessons, with extended drills and team-building activities led by Coach Merv and his developing team of coach trainees.
Sunday Game Days!

On most Sundays, the lot will buzz with excitement for exhibition games! This is where players put their practice into play, experience friendly competition, and celebrate the joy of the sport with the whole Coconuts community cheering them on.
More Than Just Practice: The Coconuts Experience
We believe in a holistic approach to youth sports development:
Fuel for Champions: No athlete trains on an empty stomach! We’ll provide healthy snacks at every training session to keep energy levels high.
Learning Through Lens: We’re stepping up our game with extensive video analysis. Using tablet technology, coaches will record and review techniques with players, providing instant visual feedback that accelerates learning for hitting, pitching, and fielding.
Coaches in Training: Our sessions double as on-the-job training for our aspiring local coaches. This means more attentive guidance for your athletes and valuable leadership development within our community.
Fundamentals First, Fun Always: Every drill and game is designed to reinforce the core fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, and running, all within a positive, encouraging, and incredibly fun atmosphere.
“We are building a baseball and softball legacy right here in Bohol,” Coach Merv adds. “It starts with these kids and their first swing. We’re not just running drills; we’re nurturing future leaders, teammates, and perhaps even future national athletes. The dedication I see in these young players, boys and girls alike, is what inspires me every day.”
