The future of baseball and softball development in Bohol is coming into focus. The Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club is thrilled to announce that plans for the Coconuts Performance Center (CPC) are officially taking shape, with negotiations for a sprawling 2,500 square meter property that will serve as the club’s new home.
The project represents a major milestone for the Coconuts’ organization, providing a permanent hub for player development, community support, and athletic excellence. The comprehensive facility will feature a seven-room bed and breakfast, a community soup kitchen, professional-grade batting cages, a fitness center, a clubhouse, and a dedicated practice infield.
“The Coconuts Performance Center will be the heartbeat of our organization,” said Coach Merv, Sports Director and Head Baseball Coach. “My top priority is to build the Coconuts a place to develop elite baseball and softball prospects. The Coconuts Performance Center will make that dream a reality.”
The estimated $90,000 project will be completed in three strategic phases, with construction scheduled to kick off in June.
Phase 1 (June): Soup Kitchen, Batting Cages, Practice Infield, Fitness Center, Clubhouse, and one apartment.
Phase 2 (August): Three additional apartments.
Phase 3 (November): The final three apartments, completing the seven-room bed and breakfast.
The property itself was secured thanks to a significant reduction in price. Coach Merv is currently raising funds in Texas from private investors and is optimistic about closing the deal upon his return to Bohol in early April.
“God works in mysterious ways because everything is coming together,” Coach Merv shared. “This property was listed at Php 3 million, but Lerma used her connections to reduce the price by 50%, which is a huge blessing.”
Lerma Moore, the club’s General Manager, emphasized that the CPC’s impact will extend far beyond the diamond. The facility is designed to be a holistic development center, shaping not just athletes, but well-rounded individuals.
The center will offer intensive daily training regimens, including mechanical adjustments, position-specific coaching, and advanced game strategy sessions. Athletes will also have access to personalized strength programs, nutritional guidance, and recovery work.
However, the CPC’s mission is dual-pronged. Recognizing the importance of education and life skills, the center will also implement programs focusing on English proficiency, schoolwork assistance, financial literacy, and mental toughness training. The goal is to prepare players not only for the rigors of competition but also for potential opportunities abroad, equipping them with the tools to adapt to life in a foreign country.
“This facility will change the futures of so many kids in Bohol,” added Lerma. “From sports to academics to part-time jobs to food security – this place will help local kids chase all their dreams.”
