Most tourists come to Bohol for the luxury resorts, the manicured beaches, and the poolside Wi-Fi. But if you want to experience the true, unfiltered heartbeat of the Philippines, it’s time to pack your bags, grab your mosquito repellent, and head into the jungle.
We are thrilled to announce the Friends of Bohol Coconuts (FOBC) Community Program!
This is not your standard tropical vacation. This is a one-to-two-week immersive cultural exchange where global citizens embed themselves directly into our island community, sharing their life experiences, hobbies, and wisdom with local residents.
You Are the Guest Professor

When you join the FOBC, you become an honorary member of the Bohol Coconuts family. During your stay, you will host seminars and night classes for our local residents. Whether you are a retired teacher, a tech wizard, a seasoned entrepreneur, or just someone who makes a world-class pot roast, you have knowledge our community is hungry for!
What can you teach? The sky is the limit:
Business & Tech: Financial management, small business strategy, computer literacy, coding, or building basic Robotics.
The Essentials: Conversational English, First Aid/CPR, or sustainable gardening and farming techniques.
Arts & Culture: Cooking and baking classes, photography, music lessons, painting, or woodworking.
Health & Wellness: Yoga, dance, or personal fitness training.
Welcome to the “Real” Bohol (Yes, We Have Snakes)

When you aren’t teaching, you will be going on guided tours of the island’s hidden gems, visiting the homes of local residents, sharing meals, and celebrating at Coconuts community events. You will make lifelong friends and experience the island in a way no tourist ever could.
But fair warning: you are stepping into a vibrant, living ecosystem.
“This is a great chance to see the ‘real’ Bohol instead of the resorts,” said Lerma Moore, Coconuts General Manager. “These are unique, one-of-a-kind adventures that are better than any scripted Survivor almost-reality TV show.”
She isn’t kidding. While you will be safe and well-cared for, this is authentic jungle living. Don’t be surprised if your morning commute to the baseball field involves a casual sighting of a Python, a King Cobra, or even a Spitting Cobra. It is all part of the charm (and makes for an unbeatable story when you fly back home).
Your Jungle Basecamp
You won’t have to pitch a tent in the mud, though! Starting this June, FOBC members can stay at a wonderful nearby Bed and Breakfast, which will be offering exclusive, discounted rates specifically for our community volunteers. It provides the perfect balance: a comfortable, authentic place to rest your head at night, right on the doorstep of your daily jungle adventure.
Are you ready to ditch the tourist traps and make a real impact? Come share your wisdom, dodge a few reptiles, and become a Friend of the Bohol Coconuts.
