The vision for the Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club has always been larger than a single field. It is about creating a self-sustaining, province-wide ecosystem that transforms lives through elite athletics, luxury hospitality, and community empowerment. As we prepare to break ground on our flagship site this June, we are laying the foundation for a scalable business model that will redefine sports tourism and youth development in the Philippines.
A Scalable Model for Sustainable Success
The core of our strategy is the integration of the Coconuts Performance Center with high-end Eco-Lodge Suites. This hybrid model solves the primary challenge of youth sports academies: long-term financial viability.
By pairing elite training facilities with luxury accommodations, we create a built-in revenue stream that funds the academy’s operations. This model is designed for rapid replication. Over the next 10 years, the Bohol Coconuts plan to establish 6–7 additional academies across Bohol. Each location will follow this same blueprint—a professional-grade training complex supported by its own income-generating Eco-Lodge.

Developing the Next Generation of Global Prospects
Developing minor league and professional prospects for the MLB, NPB, and KBO is not just an ambition; it is a realistic mission built on the untapped potential of Filipino athletes. Historically, the Philippines proved its dominance by winning the first Asian Baseball Championship in 1954. The talent remains, but the infrastructure has been lacking—until now.
By providing teenage prospects with data-driven coaching and international exposure, we are creating a clear pathway to professional recruitment. As we scale to multiple locations, we are building the “Baseball Corridor” necessary to host international showcases, attracting scouts and enthusiasts from the United States, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Canada, and Europe.
A Pillar for the Local Community
The Bohol Coconuts ecosystem is deeply intertwined with the prosperity of our local neighbors. Our academies serve as community hubs that offer more than just sports. We are committed to a holistic approach that includes:
Education & Academics: Ensuring our athletes are prepared for life beyond the field.
Vocational Training: Providing job skills training for local youth in essential trades like plumbing and electrical work.
Community Nutrition: Operating Soup Kitchens to provide low-cost, healthy meals to families in need.
Adult Recreation: Creating spaces for adult sports and wellness to foster a healthy, active island culture.
A Unique Opportunity for Every Child
For Coach Merv, the mission is deeply personal. It is about removing the barriers that prevent talented children from low-income families from succeeding.
“Our goal is to ensure that a child’s financial background never dictates their future,” says Coach Merv. “We are providing a platform where kids can chase their dreams of becoming professional athletes, but we are also providing the safety net of a trade and an education. Whether they end up in the Major Leagues or as a master electrician, they will leave our academy as leaders equipped to improve their communities.”
Coach Merv emphasizes that this is about more than just a game: “We are giving these kids a chance to be great—not just good. By building this ecosystem, we are showing them that their hard work can lead to a professional career, a university degree, or a specialized skill set that changes their family’s trajectory for generations.”
The Future of Sports Tourism
With 6–7 academies operating in tandem, Bohol will become a premier global destination for sports tourism. We are building an environment where international fans can stay in luxury Eco-Lodges, watch the next generation of superstars develop, and experience the unparalleled beauty of a UNESCO Global Geopark.
This is an invitation to be part of a legacy. The Bohol Coconuts aren’t just building a club; we are building a future where sports, sustainability, and community thrive as one.
